Organisations holding .VN domain names should be aware of new ownership verification requirements introduced by Vietnam’s domain name registry, VNNIC.
The mandatory verification process follows regulatory changes in Vietnam and represents the registry’s first comprehensive audit of .VN domain-holder information in more than 25 years.
All .VN domain holders are required to verify their registration information to ensure their domains remain compliant.
What information may be required?
As part of the verification process, domain holders may be required to provide supporting documentation confirming the organisation and individual associated with the domain.
This may include:

A Business Licence or Certificate of Registration for the organisation

An ID card or passport for the registrant, authorised representative or domain administrator

Additional supporting documentation where ownership or registrant information has changed
Registration details will need to be checked against the supporting documentation, with any discrepancies addressed as part of the verification process.
Why is this important?
Domains that are not successfully verified may be considered invalid and could potentially be suspended or revoked.
The deadline communicated for completing the verification process was 15 August 2026. Organisations that have not yet completed the required steps should therefore review the status of their .VN registrations as a priority.
What Brandsec clients need to know
Brandsec has reviewed the .VN domains under our management and has already contacted affected domain holders directly regarding the verification requirements and any documentation required.
If your organisation holds a .VN domain managed by Brandsec and you have been contacted by our team, we recommend providing the requested information as soon as possible so we can assist with completing the verification process.
If you hold a .VN domain that is not currently managed by Brandsec and have not completed the verification process, we recommend contacting your domain provider as soon as possible to confirm the status of your domain and whether any further action is required.
Keeping domain information up to date
The new .VN requirements are another reminder of the importance of maintaining accurate domain ownership and contact information.
Changes to company names, ownership structures, employees and administrative contacts can result in registration information becoming outdated over time. Maintaining accurate information helps organisations respond quickly when registries introduce new verification or compliance requirements.
Brandsec continues to monitor registry and regulatory developments globally and proactively works with our clients to help ensure their domain portfolios remain compliant.
If you have any questions regarding .VN domain verification requirements, please contact the Brandsec team.
